Lymphedema Therapy


Lymphedema is an accumulation of fluid in the arms, legs, or trunk. Typically, lymphedema will occur after cancer or cancer treatments such as the surgical removal of lymph nodes and/or radiation. Lymphedema can cause discomfort, interfere with the healing of wounds, and cause infections. Saint Thomas Outpatient Rehabilitation has the largest lymphedema program in Middle TN. Our specially trained and certified therapists use the following treatment methods to alleviate pain and reduce discomfort.

  • Complete Decongestive Physical Therapy
  • Compression Bandaging
  • Therapeutic Exercise
  • Extensive Education
  • Scar Tissue Mobilization
